VCA Healthy Start Program

Hinsdale Humane Society is proud to offer the VCA Healthy Start Progam to all adopters who choose to opt in. At the time of adoption, your counselor will explain the benefits listed below and you may choose to opt into the program.

• The adopter has 14 days to come in from day of adoption.
• VCA will call adopter and set up appointment. However, adopter is welcome to call and set up their own appointment. Adopter can go to ANY VCA they so wish.
• The HSC covers MINOR illness on sick pets and covers NO well pet outside the Free First Exam (See certificate of what is covered).
• On a “Well Pet” visit a Free First Exam will be covered and anything an adopter does or needs for a “Well Pet” i.e. Vaccines/Baseline bloodwork/fecal, will be at the adopter’s cost.
• On a “Sick Pet” visit, the adopter gets a Free First Exam and the hospital will cover up to $250 to get the pet well out of the hospitals pocket. The “Sick pet” Free First Exam is not part of the $250. After the $250 is used up, it is up to the adopter to cover the remaining treatment cost. Both Diagnostic and Treatment are covered under program up to $250.
• The Healthy Start Certificate has NO cash value and the $250 is a donation by the VCA Hospital on behalf of the adopted pet.
• If the pet has been diagnosed with a minor issue within the first 14 days of adoption at a VCA Hospital, the hospital will treat the pet until the pet is well OUTSIDE the 14 days or until the $250 is used up. After the $250 is used up, then it is the adopter’s responsibility to cover treatment costs.
• The Adopter is welcome to come in as many times as needed during the 14 days. However, the adopter will get one Free First Exam (Not part of $250) and any consecutive visits are considered a recheck will go under the $250.
